(OLLI AT UVM ONLINE DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES) The Taliban Then and Now: History and Current Conditions with Daniel Miller, Chair of the Dept. of Religion, Society & Culture at Bishop¿s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec
In the mid-1990s, the Taliban swept across Afghanistan, taking town after town, city after city and, ultimately, national governance. A quarter of a century later, having been out of power for two decades, they did it again, reclaiming political control of the country. Examine the history of the Taliban since their emergence in 1994, and the current conditions and prospects for Afghanistan under what has been called "Taliban 2.0."
