Building Capacity across Vermont for High-Quality Mathematics Instruction |

Cincinnati-based Vermont Mathematics Initiative (CVMI) The Cincinnati (Ohio) Public Schools have adopted VMI for its mathematics professional development. This five-year program is referred to as Cincinnati-based Vermont Mathematics Initiative, or CVMI for short. The first cohort of 68 teacher leaders is currently being trained, and have taken the first CVMI course Mathematics as a Second Language and the first CVMI workshop Connecting Mathematics Content and Effective Classroom Practice.
Teachers completing the first three years of the program will be credentialed as mathematics content specialists, who will provide school-based leadership and professional development assistance. Teachers completing the entire masters program will become members of the district’s mathematics expert cadre and will provide sustained mathematics professional development in the district
