Legislation Protecting Cultural Resources
Both the Federal government and many state governments have enacted laws
to protect cultural resources. Over a dozen major pieces
of Federal preservation legislation have been
enacted. In Vermont, Act 250 allows for
such protection. Criterion 8 of the Act requirs consideration of any undue
adverse effect on historic sites, among other things.
