Justin Morrill Homestead, Strafford

A rosy pink Gothic Revival estate with house and 10 agricultural and estate outbuildings on period landscape grounds.  This 1848 home was constructed by Justin Morrill who served in both the U.S. Congress and Senate.  He sponsered the Morrill Acts which are landmarks in the history of American education.  The Acts granted land and federal funds for the development of agricultural and technical colleges.  Period furnished houses and interpretive exhibits in outbuildings.  Owned and operated by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, the site is open seasonally.
