Vermont Heritage Network: Historic Architecture

Rutland Courthouse Historic District

The district includes 85 residential, public, and religious buildings, most constructed during the last half of the 19th century, when Rutland developed as a railroad and marble manufacturing center. Significant buildings are the Italianate Revival style Rutland County Courthouse, the Post Office (designed by Ammi Young), and Queen Anne-style residences along South Main Street.
