Vermont Heritage Network: Historic Architecture

Danby Village Historic District

Danby had a prosperous past built on marble quarrying and agriculture. The commercial center was developed after the railroad was constructed to nearby Mt. Tabor. Village buildings offer a view of a nearly intact 19th-century streetscape. In the last years before her death, Pearl Buck made her home in Danby, and her foundation owned several of the buildings on Main Street.
