This well-preserved Lamoille River valley village, a prosperous farming, market, wood products, residential, and tourist center, has a wide range of buildings in many architectural styles. The prosperity brought by the Burlington and Lamoille Railroad in 1877 is seen in a number of stylish Italianate, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival buildings from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
