Buildings in this village along the old Bennington to Rutland stage road range from the 1760s houses of the earliest years of permanent settlement to tourist motor courts of the early 20th century. Important structures include the Gov. Jonas Galusha House, other outstanding Federal style houses, the 1840s Greek Revival style Academy, Baptist Church (now Historical Society), and Town House.
