Founded in 1889 as a natural history and science museum, the building was designed by Lambert Packard in the Richardson Romanesque style. Collections include 100,000 objects relating to natural science, technology, regional history, and the arts. Facilities also include a planetarium, weather center, nature center, and a gift shop.
