Covered Bridge Health Services
The mission of Covered Bridge Health Services is to increase healthcare access for underserved populations in Vermont, while offering students and healthcare providers an opportunity to serve their community.
The call to serve
Covered Bridge Health Services grew out of a call to serve. In the fall of 2006, members of the UVM College of Medicine class of 2010, then in their first year, wanted the opportunity to serve their community while still in their pre-clinical years.
I'm inspired to see so many students working on this. I feel like we can really make a difference.
— Dilip Babu, Class of 2010
What we've accomplished
- Designed and gave two educational workships for dairy farm workers in Bridport, Vermont, one of which featured a blood pressure screening workshop
- Interviewed community members at a food bank event held by the Imani Health Institute in Burlington
As a UVM College of Medical student, you have an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this exciting movement. We're especially interested in the following types of support:
- Local physicians willing to donate their time
- Financial support
- Legal advice
If you would like to get involved, please send an email to Casey Johnson.
