Vermont Woodsman Team
Established:
'Way back in the days
when it snowed a foot daily from August till June and it was uphill
both ways.'
Re-Established: 2005
After a decade of
rest, the Vermont Woodsman Team Axes are swinging
again.
We an intercollegiate timbersports team based out of the
UVM Jericho Research Forest
Practice Schedule:
Fridays: 1:30
Sundays: 12:00
All practices meet at Aiken Center Loading
Dock to carpool to Jericho Research Forest
UVM Practice Meet:
November 4th
Jericho Research Forest
We will be having a practice
meet to showcase some of the events of the woodsman team as part of the
First Saturday Forest Walk and Fire Series presented by the Green
Forestry Education Initiative. www.greenforestry.org
We train and compete in a variety of individual and team events
including
Axe Throw, Horizontal Chop, Vertical Chop, Pole Climb, Log Birling, Log
Rolling, Team Cross Cut,
Single Buck Cross Cut, Chain Throw, Pulp Toss, Bow Saw, Chainsaw Cookie
Stack.
Competitions are against
other New England area college
teams including UNH, UMaine, Paul Smith's, Colby, and Dartmouth.
