Ryan Georgi ’04

WE HAVE LIFTOFF

Some students can’t wait to take flight. Ryan Georgi, a 2004 mechanical engineering graduate, began building his own airplane as a high school student at Mount Abraham Union in Bristol, Vermont and put the finishing touches on it during his UVM years. Before leaving Vermont to work for Boeing in Seattle as a structural analysis engineer, Georgi immortalized his first do-it-yourself plane with a brief video. The clip is a feat of ingenuity in its own right, dead-on with the corny bravado of an old black-and-white newsreel. Fans of film or flying can give it a look at <www.emba.uvm.edu/news/midwing.mov>.
