How do we mainstream nature in public policy?

Mar 21, 2024
3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Waterman Bldg 338 (Memorial Lounge)

Global leaders have agreed that our siloed approaches to managing the economy and the environment are not getting us where we want to go. The Sustainable Development Goals recognize the strong connections between a stable climate, thriving nature, and prosperous economies. The research and conservation communities have called for achieving these goals by mainstreaming nature, or embedding a consideration of nature in everything we do. But how do we get there?

Dr. Heather Tallis will draw from her recent time as nature advisor in the Biden White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to give concrete policy examples. She will show how nature is relevant at every stage of the decision-making process, and how recent policy changes are opening doors for nature to come into our daily lives in major ways.
