Supporting the Center

We thank you for your interest in making a gift to help fund our work with Vermont's farms and families. This page contains the text of the letter we sent to Center friends and supporters this spring to ask if they'd consider lending their support, and we decided to publish it here so that our on-line friends and supporters can find an easy way to make your gifts as well.

As I write this, it's the season of flowing sap, new lambs, and greening pastures in Vermont. Here at the Center, it's the start of our growing season too. Staff are out teaching farmers about grazing techniques, on-farm produce safety, and ways to protect water and soil while caring for their livestock. We're busily planning the season's research, meeting with farmers and colleagues across the state.

Like so many in Vermont, our work flows with the seasons. With spring's arrival, we are bringing what we learned through the winter months out into the field, the forest, the greenhouse and the pasture, working with farmers and food systems partners to address challenges and find solutions.

We know that you share our passion for fostering a Vermont food system that supports farmers, families, communities, and our natural environment. And I'm sending this letter to ask you, our friends, to support our work with farmers and food systems with a financial gift of whatever size you're able to consider so we can fully fund this important work.

Whether $1 or $1,000, gifts from friends like you make it possible to conduct leading-edge research to help respond to today's challenges and look ahead to opportunities for the future. Your involvement allows us to offer technical assistance to farmers, suggest new techniques and opportunities, and help support Vermont's agricultural economy and working landscape. Center supporters make it possible to take part in new opportunities and address challenges as they arise. We've started the Center Partner program because we want to stay in touch with friends who care about research and outreach around the Center's goals of food, farming, leadership and environment.

Making an online gift is safe, quick and easy. This link brings you right to the page; to make sure that your gift is directed towards the Center's work please be sure to check the 4th item in the list (Center for Sustainable Agriculture Fund).

Your partnership means that you'll be among the first to know about upcoming events, receive the quarterly Center Cultivating Connections newsletter, and be invited to an annual gathering to meet the Center staff and our partners, learn about research and programs, and enjoy a shared meal. Of course, your partnership means so much more. It translates into farmers getting support to help them succeed in their hard work. It means richer soils and cleaner water. And it means a food system that's good for agriculture, the land, and the communities it serves.

We look forward to continuing to work together for the future of food and farming in Vermont. We may not know what changes and challenges the future will bring, but we do know that Vermont is a treasure trove of green pastures, productive farms, and communities who care deeply about supporting their farmers and each other.

And we know that by working together, the Center will be here to work alongside Vermont farmers and producers to keep their operations strong and sustainable while caring for Vermont's working landscape.

We'd be honored to be able to include you in the growing group of Center Partners, and we thank you for your support.
