All iMacs have licenses for the following:
- Dual booting, Operating Systems:Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.6
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
- Internet Suite (FireFox, IE, FTP)
- DataCad 12
- All UVM Campus Licenced Software
LAB USE POLICY:
Seth T. O'Brien stobrien@uvm.edu is the coordinator of the lab and should be contacted for scheduling
questions. Priority heirarchy for lab use is listed below:
1. Undergraduate Instruction in CALS has first priority. Classes should be scheduled at least one month in advance. Classes
that will use the lab every week should be scheduled one semester in advance.
Seth will send class instructors a lab schedule confirming scheduled
class times.
2. Other CALS activities (Extension, Experiment Station, Research) have second
priority.
3.
Undergraduate Instruction outside of CALS has third priority.
4. Other UVM persons or organizations requesting lab use for
other than undergraduate instruction have last priority and may be charged
a use fee.
LAB OPERATIONS
LAB HOURS:
The lab is usually open during the Fall and Spring
semesters from 8:30am to midnight Monday - Thusday, 8:30am to 10pm on
Fridays and from 8:30 am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays. These
hours are dependent on Work Study Lab Assistant availability. Consult
the lab calendar posted on the lab door or contact Seth T. O'Brien.
LAB ASSISTANCE:
Work Study Lab assistants will be available during lab hours. Lab assistants
may not be able to answer all questions. Lab users must be prepared to
consult software manuals, online help, and outside software support for
help.
FACULTY ORIENTATION:
Faculty may contact Seth T. O'Brien stobrien@uvm.edu
for orientation including a tour of the lab.
Faculty must know how to
use hardware and software before scheduling a course.
Faculty are responsible
for trouble shooting software problems with their students. Faculty should
consult Seth T. O'Brien to get software loaded and tested on the network
file server.
**Our lab software image is currently static and will not be updated with new software until further notice.
Contact the Computer Depot for assistance with purchasing software/licenses.)
