year by participating in the 2010 Census, and in turn, helping define
and improve the quality of life in our community and our nation.
Conducted every 10 years, the census is more than a population count.
Census data inform critical political and funding decisions on the
national, state and local level. One of the shortest in history, the
2010
Census form only takes about 10 minutes to complete.
How to
Participate

If you live off campus:
2010 Census forms will be delivered or mailed to your house or
apartment this March. All students living at the address are
considered one household, so only one form should be completed with
information about all the people living at that address. Mail the
completed form in the U.S. mail envelope provided.
ATTENTION OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS:
Bring a
completed household Census form to
Census Day on Wed.,
March 31st from 12-3pm in between the Davis Center and
Bailey Howe
Library you will be entered into a prize raffle for
the Mayor' of Burlington's parking spot,
gift cards to City Market, and much more!! Stay tuned for more

Why the 2010 Census
is Important
Census data will provide state population
counts and determine
representation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Every year, the
federal government distributes more than $400 billion to state, local
and tribal governments based on census data. Data also will guide local
decision-makers on where to build new schools, roads, hospitals and
develop community programs that affect quality of life.
Easy. Important.
Confidential.
Everyone in the United
States must be counted. This includes people of all ages, races, ethnic
groups, citizens and noncitizens. By law, the U.S. Census
Bureau cannot share respondents’ answers with anyone, including other
federal agencies and law enforcement entities

Preventing Property Theft During
Spring Break
Burglaries and larcenies are often crimes
of
opportunity. When students leave town for Spring Break apartments and
valuables are left unattended and burglaries usually
follow suit. Whether you are going home during an extended
University
break, or just
leaving town for a couple of days, the following tips are ways to
increase the security of your residence:

Union Street
Trash Pilot Project:
Volunteers Needed!
The Problem:
Unsightly and dangerous trash on No. Union Street poses a safety
hazard, especially for young children walking to Edmunds School. Also,
unkempt trash invites vandalism and degrades property values.
Goal/ Solution:
To motivate volunteer neighbors, students, residents, landlords and
city officials, to ensure that North Union Street is always clean, to
enhance neighborhood safety and value. This pilot project can serve as
a model for other streets.
There are clean ups scheduled once a week from now
through May. If you are interested in volunteering on No. Union St. or

Save
the Date: Hyde
Street O.N.Eder Dome Installation & Celebration!
Please join neighbors, students and the VSA Arts
of Vermont community artists as we come together under our
beautiful
stained glass and steel O.N.E.der Dome designed to invite new and
creative uses of the Hyde Street triangle park in Burlington! The
O.N.Eder Dome Installation
Party will be on Saturday, April 10th,
from 2-4pm.
Along with food from neighborhood businesses, VSA
Art of Vermont's Awareness Theater
Company and neighborhood residents will perform under the new dome.
Note: The rain date will be Sunday, April 11th,
from 2-4pm.
Want to Get Involved?
We are currently looking for 4-6 volunteers to help us install the dome
on Monday April 5th from 9am-3:30pm. We are also looking for a UVM
student performer/group of performers (artists, musicians, poets,
etc...) that would be interested in doing a 5-10min performance at the
celebration on Saturday April 10th between 2-4pm. If you are interested
