Call for Nominations, Soyuz Officer Positions

From Amy Ninetto, Soyuz Convenor

Election time has come around again, and we'd like to encourage everyone to consider running for a position on the Soyuz board.

We'll soon be holding elections for: Convenor, Secretary, Programming Coordinator, Webmaster, and Student Representative.

Briefly, the duties of each officer are as follows:

Convenor: provides general leadership, convenes the business meetings at AAA and AAASS, handles official correspondence, calls for elections.

Secretary:  manages the membership list and maintains records of the business meetings.

Programming Coordinator: works as a liaison between the board and the organizer of the annual symposium, supervises the process of selecting Soyuz's sponsored panel at AAASS

Webmaster:  maintains the website and associated features, works with the list editor to manage the listserve, coordinates with H-Net.

Student Representative: (must be a PhD candidate, but cannot have received the degree yet), coordinates with AAA and AAASS to bring to the membership's attention issues of importance to student members

If you're thinking of running for a position and would like more information on what the job entails, the time commitments, etc., please feel free to get in touch with the office's current occupant. Click here to see a list of current Soyuz officers

If you'd like to run for a position, please send me (Amy Ninetto) a brief (1-2 paragraph) statement of interest and qualifications and a one-page CV by Friday, May 16.  We'll then distribute this information to the membership and hold the vote.  The plan is for the new officers to
take over at the end of summer.

all best,
Amy
