TIPS FOR NAVIGATING IN BANNER GUI STUDENT VERSION

1. Querying on validation tables. Example: To search for a specific major:

2. New way to query in List (LOV): start entering letters.  The program automatically searches for codes beginning with those letters. Backspace will remove a letter (if enter PO, backspace returns you to P). Once you enter enough so it's the only entry, it pulls it back for you -- usually!  To do a LOV click on the button for the field or use F9.

3. If there is only 1 value in the table, List pulls back that value automatically. It does not go to the list. (e.g. The Code field in SGAADVR.)

4. DupRecord (F4) ends terms in from-to term concepts (like SGASADD, SSARRES, SGAADVR, etc.)

5. Exit with Value is now called Select.   This is KP+  in character mode.  In GUI click on the Select button or using the menu, Alt/Action/Select (or Alt a e).

6.  The menu is very useful in GUI if you prefer not to use your mouse.  To access the menu hit ALT, then use the underlined letter of  the function you want (usually the first letter).  So hitting Alt q e will get you to Enter the Query.  The menus do change with each form.  What is shown is actually based on what the options are for that form.

7.  Click on Buttons to activiate and utilize the popup windows e.g. (Primary), (Add'l Info), etc. on SGASTDN:

When "More..." appears on the form, there are multiple blocks. Use NextBlock (PgDn) and PrevBlock (PgUp) to move between those blocks

When you move to a different form using the Options Menu, Exit (F4) will take you back to the original form. e.g. Going to SGAADVR from SGASTDN
