Introduction to BF/OCV

This stormwater management toolbox focuses on the Butler Farms and Oak Creek Village residential communities in South Burlington, VT. Our inquiry explores the stormwater runoff dynamics and patterns generated by a typical residential development in northern New England.

The proximity of the communities can be seen below, and both front Hinesburg Road in South Burlington. Oak Creek Village (OCV) is seen to the north of Butler Farms (BF). The tributary receives the majority of the storm water generated by these two communities.

The communities (combined) occupy nearly 150 acres of land.

There are 258 homes, with the lot size averaging 15,000 sq. ft. (1/3 acre).

Tributary 7 of Potash Brook (in blue) transects both developments, before meeting another tributary branch, crossing Route I89, and continuing down to the main stream of Potash Brook, which then empties into Lake Champlain.
