Welcome to the Inquiry Block, a 9-credit experience where you will gather the knowledge and skills needed to teach science, social studies, and the visual and performing arts. You will also put your new knowledge and skills into practice during your field work at a local elementary school.
Your faculty Joe Abruscato, Russell Agne, and Susan Baker, will provide these experiences in the context of the overarching Elementary Education Program theme "Teaching and Learning as Meaningful Enterprise." This means that we will build on the previous knowledge and skills you have acquired and help you construct new knowledge by tying together what you've learned already with what we will be teaching you. One of the most exciting parts of the experience will be your application of this newly constructed knowledge to the real life setting of a public school with teachers, administrators, support staff and very real children!
You will face some significant challenges. However we are each dedicated to making the Inquiry Block a set of experiences that is positive, memorable, and meaningful. We know that you will want to do the same for your students.
Let the adventure begin. . . .
