National History

Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology, was founded September 4, 1929 at the Ninth International Congress of Psychology held at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.  The purpose of The Honor Society is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and advance the science of psychology.  Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate women and men who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet minimum academics qualifications.  It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).
