Biography: Stuart Vaughan

Mr. Vaughan is a co-founder of the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. Over the past 60 years, Mr. Vaughan has been a performing artist, a director, a playwright, and author. He has directed over 40 productions in New York City, several on Broadway and many for the prestigious New York City Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. Mr. Vaughan is a three-time Tony Award winner and an Obie Award winner for Best Director. The subjects of his artistic works, publications, and presentations include, Shakespeare, the classics, playwrighting, and theater marketing. He is heralded as a superlative influence on the theater culture in New York City and other parts of the United States. Mr. Vaughan is also a receipt of the Vernon Rice Award (New York Drama Desk) for Best Director. Mr. Vaughan received a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, a Master of Arts degree from Indiana University, and a honorary Doctor of Human Letters degrees from Indiana University.
