Since the CUPS Office works primarilly with academically-related partnerships, we will likely work with you through either service-learning or community-based research:
Service-Learning Courses
One of the ways in which we might support you is matching you with a service-learning course - a course that includes a community-based project as a means through which learning is enhanced. Members of the CUPS staff are available to help community partners learn about Service-Learning pedagogy and philosophy. It may also be helpful to look through our Community Partner Guide to Service-Learning.
Community-Based Research
If your need is research-based, the CUPS Office can help you find a faculty member or student who might partner with you to complete a research or evaluation project. The CUPS office provides training and support for faculty, staff, students and community members who would like to participate in community-based research projects.

The CUPS office can help you to figure out whether your project is best met by our office or by another service-related office on campus. The CUPS office has worked with a campus-wide committee to create a “map” of service and community-related activities on campus. Viewing the Community Engagement Map of UVM on the Community Partner Link website may help you determine which offices to pursue to initiate your project (for example, would an internship posting be a better route? or a volunteer opportunity listing?).
