Visiting
Teachers from Asia in Vermont Schools
ASOP
invites teachers from China, Japan and Thailand to assist schools
in teaching about Asia every year. Host schools need to indentify
mentors teachers and host families, make arrangements for professional
and cultural activities, and provide lunches and local transportation.
Host families provide housing, breakfast, dinner and opportunties
for cultural experiences.
This
2006-2007 school year, we are fortunate to have 9 energetic
and talented Asian teachers from China, Japan
and Thailand located in Vermont school districts around the state.
To
request a visiting teacher, please contact Bill Williams,
ASOP Coordinator for Field Support.
Requests need to be made
as
early as possible and all application procedures must be
complete before
the end of March each year to have the best chance to receive
an Asian teacher for the next school year.Planning
for visiting teachers for the 2007-08 school year is now underway
(as of February 2006) and will hopefully
by completed by the end of January 2007.
