To assist Vermont schools in teaching about Asia, ASOP directly invites visiting teachers from China and Thailand and interns from Japan. They teach various aspects of their cultures to Vermont students. Teachers from China and Thailand visit Vermont for six months. Japanese nationals visit Vermont for various lengths. Receiving schools are responsible for assigning mentor teachers; making arrangements for teaching, local transportaion, and activities for the visitors to experience American culture; identifying host families, and covering the cost of lunch. Host families are responsible for housing, food, and, depending on the local arrangements, transportation. All requests for having visisting teachers must be submitted in writing to ASOP Office eight months prior to the arrival of the teachers. For more information, contact Bill Williams at William.H.Williams@uvm.edu.
