Co-sponsored with the Governor's Institute of Vermont (GIV), this program assists high school students in studying Asia beyond their school curriculum. Approximately 20 students will be selected to study Asian cultures with university professors during the summer. In the following summer, they visit China for first hand experiences and direct contact with Chinese people and students through workshops and field trips.
Only one participant will be selected from each high school. Preference will be given to the applicants who make GIAC the first choice among all GIV programs. First considerations will be given to those who have not visited China. For any questions about application and selection procedure, please contact the Governor's Institute of Vermont (GIV) at (802)229-4757 or http://www.giv.org.
Only those who have particpated in the GIAC Vermont on-campus program in the previous year are eligible for this program.
In summer 2008, 19 Vermont High School students visited through the Governor's Institutes on Asian Cultures in China program (GIAC China) from July 5, 2008 to July 19, 2008. Here are the snapshot of their experience!
