This program will provide opportunities for Vermont teachers to explore various aspects of an Asian country, such as history, politics, economy, and education, through lectures, workshops, and field trips. In summer 2015, the Institute on Japan and Its Cultures will provide 10 Vermont educators with the opportunity to learn about and travel to Japan.

Programs for High School Students

Co-sponsored with the Governor's Institute of Vermont (GIV), the Governor's Institute on Asian Cultures (GIAC)program assists high school students in studying Asia beyond their school curriculum.

The students selected to be in the GIAC Vermont program will study Asian cultures with university professors during the summer. Students who complete the GIAC Vermont program can apply to study in China the following summer.
