About the Ombudsperson
The Graduate Student Ombudsperson is responsible for providing independent, confidential, informal and impartial assistance to graduate students on matters affecting their graduate education.
The Graduate Student Ombudsperson Office is a safe place to voice your concerns, talk through and evaluate your circumstances, organize your thoughts and identify your options, or get a second opinion. It can be a good first step in considering a situation if you are not sure how to proceed or where to turn to for advice.
The Ombudsperson Office provides assistance through informal means only and does not duplicate formal University processes and procedures. However, the office may provide information about and referrals to other appropriate offices or services.
Confidentiality means the Ombudsperson Office does not disclose any records that include information that might identify individuals. Contact information and any notes made to assist in a particular discussion or situation are confidential. They are securely maintained and destroyed when the matter is concluded.
