In addition to being a part-time student in the MPA program, Rachel Hanish works for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, serving as the Development & Grants Specialist at the organization’s headquarters in Burlington. Rachel’s diverse responsibilities include grant writing, researching and tracking, as well as executing aspects of the direct response program. Prior to this, Rachel worked in nonprofit fundraising and administration for organizations focused on human rights, international development and youth leadership. She found it to be especially rewarding and interesting working for the Genocide Intervention Network, a start-up Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group focused on Darfur policy. In 2006, Rachel received her bachelor’s degree from UVM in Natural Resources with a concentration in resource planning. Rachel lives in Winooski and enjoys making trips to see her family – and her horses – in central Maine.
