Common Left Hand Position Problems for Cello and Bass

Sloped Fingers

The fingers should be perpendicular to the neck of the cello or bass. If the thumb is pulled out of position, or the wrist is collapsed, the fingers sometimes slope and point toward the bridge. This will affect intonation and dexterity.
