Amati

The violin emerged in its definitive form between 1520 and 1550 in northern Italy. Andrea Amati was the first of the great violin makers. The first four string violin made by Amati that is dated is labeled 1555. This is a pair of Amati’s instruments that were made during the 1560s and 70s for Charles IX of France.
