All of the following student groups provide support and community for LGBTQA students:

Free To Be Student Club is a Student Government Association (SGA) recognized club, entirely run by students. According to its mission statement, the group exists "to actively work on creating a safe space for people of all sexualities and individualities within ourselves and the GLBTA and UVM communities." The group welcomes anyone who is interested and has many members who are allies. It is active throughout the year, with events drawing anywhere from 40 to 300 people.

 

 

 

GuyTalk is a group for Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Men to talk about issues around their male identity. They meet weekly on Thursday at 7PM in the Allen House (461 Main Street).

 

 

 

Hearts Not Parts is a bisexual/Pansexual/Ally group.This group is not currently meeting. If you would like to take a leadership role in restarting this group, with support from the LGBTQA Center, please contact lgbtqa@uvm.edu.

 

 

 

QPOC--Queer People of Color--is a support group for students, staff, and faculty at UVM who identify as queer people of color. It was developed with the guidance of both LGBTQA Services and the ALANA Student Center,. The intersections of race, sexual orientation, and gender identity are openly addressed through dialogues, films, informal conversations, and social gatherings. SPECTRUM is a program offered at the UVM Living/Learning Center. Their mission is for participants to educate themselves and others about the multiplicities of sexual orientation, the possibilities of gender, and the ever-changing queer identities present on our campus, in our state, our country, and the world at large. The SPECTRUM program includes safe-space housing for students who identify with any sexual or gender identity, including but not limited to heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex, queer, questioning, or allies of this community. The Translating Identity Conference (TIC) is a free conference focusing on transgender communities and gender identities. Open to the public, this event hopes to reach out to the University of Vermont, the Burlington community, and the nation as a whole to educate us all further about gender. With multiple panels to choose from at any time, some panels will be directed towards trans people and others will be for those who are fairly unfamiliar with the transgender movement and the topic of gender identity.
