UVM G.O.A.T. Partners with America East

All Athletes Will Wear Rainbow Ribbon at Track & Field America East Championships

All Athletes at the 2014 Track & Field America East Championships Will Wear This Ribbon On Their Bibs

UVM G.O.A.T. (Generation Out Athlete Team) formed in November of 2013. A group of enthusiastic students became interested in providing a safe space and outreach for LGBTQA athletes in the community. Through the efforts of its members and in conjunction with You Can Play, G.O.A.T. hosted a speaker panel. The panel was lead by Wade Davis, Executive Director of You Can Play. The panel spoke to all Athletic staff and student athlete leaders. It served as a medium to provide a safe and open space to talk about LGBTQA issues and how to address them within athletics.

On May 3rd, G.O.A.T. is partnering with America East to put forward the Rainbow Ribbon Initiative. At the Track and Field America East Championships, every athlete will wear a rainbow ribbon on their racing bib. By wearing a rainbow ribbon all America East Track and Field athletes will be demonstrating their support for the LGBTQA community.

Congratulations G.O.A.T. for all of the hard work and leadership that went into this achievement.
