UVM Joins Schools Participating in National You Can Play Project
Class of 2013 Graduates Gretchen Powers and Kaleigh Wood Debut Their Film at Rainbow Graduation and UVM Board of Trustees Meeting

The LGBTQA Center is proud to awknowledge the culmination of nearly a year's work by Gretchen Powers and Kaleigh Wood, both members of the graduating class of 2013. Kaleigh, a member of the UVM Cross-Country Running Team, and Gretchen, a member of the UVM Crew Team, completed a film contribution to the national You Can Play Project with the assistance of UVM Athletics and debuted that film at the 2013 Rainbow Graduation ceremony as part of their work with the LGBTQA Center@UVM. The film was so well-received that it was then presented at the next the Board of Trustees meeting. Kaleigh and Gretchen were interviewed by WCAX news, which also aired a clip.
The intent of the film and national project is to transform Athletic culture by making it a safe and affirming space for all athletes regardless of sexual orientation and/or gender identity. More information about the You Can Play Project can be viewed on their website http://youcanplayproject.org.
