Information for LGBTQ Veterans


LGBTQ veterans and servicepeople can find support through the following organizations:

  • American Veterans for Equal Rights, a "non-profit, chapter-based association of active, reserve and veteran servicemembers dedicated to full and equal rights and equitable treatment for all present and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces."

  • OutServe-SLDN, a non-profit organization for active miltiary personnel formed in 2012 through the merger of OutServe and the Servicemembers' Legal Defense Network, and dedicated to "bringing about full LGBT equality to America's military and ending all forms of discrimination and harassment of military personnel on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. "

  • Transgender American Veterans Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that transgender veterans recieve equal treatment and appropriate medical care.

  • Gay Military Signal, a monthly web magazine focused on GLB military issues.

  • Military Partners and Families Coalition, an advocacy and support organization for partners of LGBTQ active-duty servicemembers.
