SnowMAN 2.0

Framing and Refining

For the SnowMAN 2.0 project, there were several needs that have to be met by the end of the year.

1. A new stand for the sensors needed to be designed.  This stand would have to support the brain box and battery, and at the same time be light enough to be deployed by a 2 man team on various types of terrain.

2. The "brain box", which houses the mote, needed connectors leading from the interior of the box to the exterior.  The connectors would have to be able to snap on and off easily by someone wearing gloves in a freezing environment.

3.  Energy harvesting needs to be researched and implimented in the system to charge the 9-12V battery source.  The batteries need to stay charged for the 6 months it will be in freezing temperatures.

The figure featured below is the power systems circuit design.
