Geospatial technology is playing an ever increasing important role in the way
we analyze and assess the world around us. My training is in forestry and
water resources, but I am a geographer in practice. My work is
cross-disciplinary in nature and centers on the application of geospatial
technology to natural resource related issues, with a focus on urban
ecosystems. Most recently I have been involved in developing the
Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) assessment protocols. Much of my research is
carried out in
collaboration with the scientists of USDA Forest Service's
Northern Research Station.
In addition to my research duties I teach two courses, the
GIS Practicum (NR243) and
Introduction to Geospatial Technology (GEOG 095/195).
