Tables allow you to control where your text and pictures appear as well as offer many interesting design features. With good use of tables you can create professional looking pages with a simple editor.

Tables are a matrix of cells. Cells can have color, pictures, text and links.

This is a one ROW by two COLUMN table WITH BORDER =1 AT 90%

This is a simple table and there are many ways to work with the variables to create many formats.

We can change the number of rows, columns; span a row across a column and vice versa

We can change the border with, cell spacing and padding within a cell.

We can change the color of the cells and tables and resize any cell or size of table.

Table Two

Tables can be centered and their width controlled to bring text away from the edges of your page. If a table's length is not designated, it will change it's size to accommodate your text and pictures.

This table is One Row and One Column with a colored background. The table is centered, and its width set to 90%. The border is 0 so there will be no edge around this table

Tables can be used to create a background for buttons. This table is 80% with 5 columns in one row and has a colored background with a border of 6. Spacing is set to 3 (this controls spaces between cells) and padding to 4. Padding represents spaces within cells.

Using a combination of colored cells, graphics and text, we can create the following design:

Tables can have cells that span columns and/or rows. In this table the middle cell spans one column and two rows.

Table Seven

It is possible to put tables inside of tables

This consists of one table with three columns and two rows. It has a black background and a 2x2 table nestled in the cell in the upper right hand corner.

Sidebars can be created with tables. In the example below we have a simple 1 row 3 column table with uneven cells. The spacing has been set to zero as well as cell padding. The first cell is olive in color, the second black. The table can be expanded to any height, including the entire length of the page..

This table is a four row and three column table. The first and third rows serve has headings. To maintain the empty column an invisible gif has been added.
