Subject: permission to quote Status: RO

Joyce, I am a teacher teaching teachers about integrating information technolgy into their classrooms. I have chosen to quote you at different points, and have acknowledged these quotations. I am asking for permission to quote you, and will be including your http address in the written notes for the module that I am writing. The particular quotations are from Dilemmas in Education: a matter of balance "Locally defined change that is creepingly slow is often the best because it is more stable." " People perform better when their goal is clear, and they have a standard with which to compare their own performance. Students should be involved in the process of creating their own rubrics, assessing their needs, and determining their progression. The best way to learn is to teach, and the best way to learn to assess is to learn to assess oneself." >From your page I also went on a Virtual Whale Watching Tour which I really enjoyed. Provided I gain your permission, the above note will be included in the reference section of the workbook which all participants will receive. A little bit about me: I am an Australian teacher - trained in History and English at Secondary Level, and I am teaching computers in a primary school. The Queensland Government has decreed that all teachers shall have accreditation in information technology skills by the year 2001. They have published a document which says what is to be done, but not how it is to be done. The local Education Centre (a not-for-profit organization which serves the schools and had its government funding cut off last year) has stepped forward and asked teachers in this area who have some expertise to put together a package that will offered to schools to enable them to reach the government's stated goals. We are working as a team to across both private and state schools, and I am developing the Module about Student Centred Learning. I am also doing a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology. I have let you know all of this because I am feel your enthusiasm coming though the web page and I wanted you to know we here in the far-flung corners as it were, appreciate your work!
