Objectives

To use new technology to promote literacy, inquiry, and critical consciousness.

To use new technology tools to actively participate in a global society and increase one's knowledge of other cultures, societies, and beliefs.

To become literate and comfortable with using a computer system to acquire and process and present data into a coherent form.

To use and apply to classroom learning: wordprocessing, desktop publishing, graphic tools, databases, spreadsheets, graphs, and multimedia-hypermedia programs

To learn how to critically and reflectively examine and evaluate software as a potential teaching tool and classroom resource

To learn how technology can help visualize abstract concepts to solve problems.

To learn how dialogue, collaborative interaction, and constructive learning can be stimulated by computer programs.

To learn how the computer can help teacher management and productivity.

To learn how telecommunication networks can be used to enhance the learning environment and provide rich resources of information.

To learn how to use information technology as described in the Vermont Framework for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Research

1.18 Students use computers, telecommunications, and other tools of technology to research, to gather information and ideas, and to represent information and ideas accurately and appropriately. word processing, E-mail, telecommunications, using internet, databases, desktop publishing.

1.19 Students use organizational systems to obtain information from various sources (including libraries and the Internet). telecommunications, using internet, LUIS, databases, software review.

Communication of Data

1.20 Students use graphs, charts, and other visual presentations to communicate data accurately and appropriately. Spreadsheets and graphs, drawing and painting tools, portfolio development.
