Photoshop's Filters

A filter can be applied to a whole layer of a graphic, or a designated
selection on a layer. |

Feather the selection to create a soft transition from a filtered to
nonfiltered area. |

Most filter boxes have a preview window that enables you to see the
results on your image before applying it. Click on the + to zoom in on
the image and - to look at the bigger picture. |
