  • All assignments are due on the date specified below. Documentation is required for extensions without penalty.

    Electronic Portfolio 
    "Getting to Know Myself"
    • In this assignment you are going to learn how to publish on the Internet and begin your own electronic portfolio as a way of keeping track of your own learning, thinking about your own learning and as a way of sharing your thinking with others.
    20 points Initial portfolio due date
    11/10  (10 points now), when all computer assignments are included, 10 points more. Due Date 12/10
    SpreadSheet
    • Use the spreadsheet in Excel to construct a grade sheet for 10 imaginary students with 5 imaginary grades. Label the workbook class grade book. Average their grades and save as an html document to add to your portfolio.
    • Take a picture your spreadsheet  (Apple/Shift/4) save as a .jpeg and add it to your page of computer products. How might this assignment be helpful to you as a classroom teacher? Think about responding to that in your reflection piece. Also look at the resources on the syllabus page to give you some ideas.

    Graphs
    • Generate a graph for a simple research study that you will conduct. You must have 15 respondents but topics can range from month of birth to whether the students in your dorm prefer Pepsi or Coke. Submit a graph with title, labels and a header with your name and date. Take screen dumps of your graph and add these to your web site with a description of your study.

    WebQuest Activity:
    • You will participate in an adventure on the Oregon Trail with some of your classmates each playing different roles. You will learn how the Internet can be used as a resource to help students want to learn, remember what they learned, and transfer it to other situations.

    Group Digital Movie
    Working with a group of fellow classmates you will design a original digital video to either enhance, demonstrate or otherwise embellish a lesson (activity) or unit you find on SIA juried units/activities.  See  rubric for specific criteria for contents  and demonstration of your skills in creating a digital video. Add this assignment to your portfolio on your edel 11 page of products.

    PowerPoint Presentation:
    You will create a Power Point presentations for use with elementary/middle or secondary school children that enhances or provides a visual component to any Juried Activity or Unit on SIA's Instructional Planner. See Rubric for specific criteria. Save your PowerPoint presentation for the web and add it to your edel 11 computer web page.

    E-mail Discussion messages
    Reading and understanding assigned articles. Participation at least once a week in e-mail discussions of articles, forwarding of interesting information, questions and answers sent through e-mail, correct use of distribution list.
