Ahoy!

Monday, September 20th, 2004

These pages have been gathering dust for quite some time. I believe I’ve found a way to make editing them a bit quicker and easier, and at the same time do a litttle “research” on some nifty web based editing software.

I’ve been playing around w/ wordpress following a recent discussion. So far I’m quite impressed with the product. I’ve played around with a few other publishing systems, including Moveable Type, and this has turned out to be the best I’ve seen (albeit MT comes in a very close second).

I’ve got magpie installed to parse the rss feeds generated by wp and display them within the UVM Template .

The links are also being fed in using wp’s own opml parser (used to import blogrolls from other software such as MT) to parse it’s opml feed.

The main nav area on the left has links leading to different categories in wp.

Once I figure out how to dynamically generate defaultmenu.html (as well as quick_links.html, et al) I’ll have it do this automatically for the public categories. Unfortunately, that’ll have to wait for another day…
