| Louisiana Coastal wetlands are the
longest stretch of continuous coastal wetlands in the Lower 48 states.
Wetland and surface waters are denoted in blue on the map. The
Louisiana Coastal Wetlands extend along 300 km of the coast of the Gulf of
Mexico and reach as far as 130 km inland from the barrier islands to upland
swamps. The delta of the Mississippi River is seen in the South Eastern
portion of the above map. |
