Colonial Choices
Webquest for 5th Graders
Alyson Daniel

Scenario
Each day you participate in decision making. The choices you make guide your life the way you choose.  You make little decisions all the time! Some examples include: choosing what to eat for breakfast,  what book you read before bed, what television show you choose to watch after dinner, whether you shower at night or in the morning, or even what clothes you wear to school. You also have to make bigger decisions in your lives.  Some examples of these may include: what activities you participate in after school, how you help a sick family member, or taking on responsibilities over a pet.  These are all choices that a fifth grade student may have to make at some point this year in 2007.
The Challenge
Put yourself in the shoes of a 10 or 11 year old in 1622. You live with your family in Plymouth,  Massachusetts. Write a 1 page journal entry describing a day in your life.  Use the links on the left to access your information.  What decisions did you have to make?  Did you come across any big decisions in your day? What were they? Make sure you answer the question of why you made these choices.
