Dive Into Oceans

Mrs. Morin's 5th grade Class:

A webquest that guides you through the depths of the ocean.

Created by Emily North

Introduction:

Welcome aboard Ms. North's Deep Sea Submarine!  You've been invited to travel from the sandy seashore to the deepest depths of the ocean.  You will have the chance to explore the different layers of the ocean and the animals that live there.  The animals come in all different shapes, sizes and colors and they have adapted in unique ways in order to survive in the ocean.  There is a world of beauty and mystery waiting for you!

Your Deep Sea Challenge:

While you are exploring the ocean from the submarine, make sure to look for the following information:

What are the three layers of the ocean?

Name and describe one animal that you found in each layer of the ocean.

Pick one animal that you thought was particularly interesting and answer the following questions:  What layer of the ocean did you find this animal?  What are the characteristics of the ocean layer where you discovered this animal? What does it look like?  How has this animal adapted to survive in the layer of the ocean where you found it?

When you return to land, your classmates will be eager to learn what you discovered.  You must create a poster that describes each layer of the ocean.  On the poster you should also describe and illustrate one animal that you found in each layer of the ocean.
