The Human Body

The Five Senses

Grade Level:   4

The Challenge:

After going through this WebQuest you should be able to name the five senses of the body.  You will know the parts of the body involved in the different senses and how you use them in your daily life.  Your challenge will be to label the sensory body parts on a human body diagram that you will be given and pick a sense that you would like to have super powers associated with.  You will need to find out about each of the senses and chose one to give super powers to.  You will need to write a one-page paper explaining why you would want to have that sense extremely strong. Make sure you give good reasons why you would benefit from having that sense stronger than the rest of your senses.

General Information:

There are five senses in the human body, sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.  You use these senses doing everyday things.  You use both sight and sound to cross a street, you use taste to eat your lunch, you use smell to tell when someone is baking in your house, and you use touch to pick up the pencil you dropped in class.  You tend to take for granted all the time you use your senses through out the day.

 Our SENSES tell us:

1.     What is out in the environment?

2.     How much is out there.

3.     Is there more or less of something than before.

4.     Where is it? Where we are.

5.     Is our environment changing in time or place?

6.     What its like, sight, sounds smells?

7.     What different things feel like?

You are going to need to do a little research on all of the senses before deciding which one you would like to give super powers too.

After you have found out the basics of all 5 senses you will need to choose one sense that you would like to give super powers to, make more powerful than the rest of your senses.  Once you have chosen one sense you will need to learn more about that one sense and how you would use these super natural powers.

Now that you have learned about the senses and really looked at the sense you would like to give supernatural powers to.  Go write a one-page paper telling me how you would benefit from these senses and what you would be able to do with them that you can’t do with your other senses.
