Supplies you need for a worm bin
~ Introduction ~

Jack has noticed that lots of people are throwing away all of their food scraps at the end of lunch. Jack thinks this is wasteful and wants to find out how he can use these leftovers in a beneficial way. He has heard about vermicomposting, using worms to compost, but he doesn't know  how it works or how he can use vermicomposting to solve the food waste problem. Jack has come to you for help. Can you help him learn more about composting using worms?

~ The Challenge ~

Here's what you need to do; using the web links and key words found on the web quest start researching vermicomposting and worm bins. Using your research you should be able to answer the following questions:

• What is a worm bin?

• What do you need to have in a worm bin?

• How are worm bins useful and helpful?

~ The "Report" ~

Create a power point, poster, brochure, poem, or song, to answer the questions posted above in the "Challenge" section. However you present your information, make sure to use complete sentences and correct spelling. Create your worm bin design using a painting or drawing program on the computer, poster paper and markers/cutouts, or model magic. Remember, that all of the pieces of your design need to be labeled. Be prepared to explain the 'why' of your design, why did you design it the way you did? These final products will be shared as a class.
