Investigation of Inventors (Famous Inventions and their Inventors) Suggested Grade Level:  4th-5th grade
Introduction:  Do you think that people have always used things such as light bulbs, computers, telephones, or automobiles?  Well, if you said "no", then you are absolutely right.  All of these things are ideas that people have discovered or created that have changed the way in which we live our lives.  An invention is defined as a new device, method, or process developed from study and experimentation.  Therefore, an inventor is a person who makes inventions.
The Challenge:  If you are wondering who came up with these inventions then this is your chance to find out.  What you will do is read through a list of inventors and then use the internet (which is a very important invention) to discover what they invented.  There will be a list of 25 inventors.  You are to pick any 10 of them and try to find out what they invented.  You will write a brief report or chart that includes: 1.  The name of the inventor 2.  What they invented 3.  One sentence about how that specific invention changed people's lives.
