Grade 1-2
By April Wright and Dara Zafron
Welcome Everyone!
We are going to take a journey into the world of bats and how they use
sound.
Come along and check it out...

What is sound?
As we have learned, sound is made when a substance or object vibrates
and sends out a sound wave. Our ears can hear these sound
waves. When a substance or object stops vibrating the sound also
stops.
Challenge:
The challenge for you boys and girls is to discover how bats use
echolocation, what they use it for, and what these echoes look and
sound like. So dive right in and have some fun.
What is echolocation?
Echolocation is when a sound is produced and sends out a sound
wave. The sound wave then bounces off an object and sends an echo
back.

echoes
look like as they travel through the air it is your turn to draw your
own bat using echolocation to find his dinner. You will need a
piece
of white paper and markers. You must make sure your picture
